Subject: Technical Description Writing Strategies
Salutation professor Rodwell,
When writing my technical description I was able to exercise two course learning outcomes. The first course learning outcome I was able to improve on was enhanced strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment. The second course learning outcome I was able to improve on was to develop and engage in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes.
The first course learning outcome I was able to practice was enhanced strategies for reading, drafting, revising, editing, and self-assessment. Although I did not enhance my reading skills in this paper I did enhance my drafting skills. Writing drafts allowed me to see my weak points in writing this paper. I enhanced my revising skills by reading over my drafts and analyzing the peer reviews of my drafts to see what I can change to improve my paper. I enhanced my editing skills by fixing mistakes in my drafts and improving my final product. I enhanced my self assessment skills by being hard on my own work when revising and editing my drafts and improving my paper from peer reviews and rereading my own paper.
The second course learning outcome I was able to practice was to develop and engage in the collaborative and social aspects of writing processes. Participating in peer review allowed me to see my flaws in my writing as I compared each of my peers’ analysis of my drafts to see similarities between them. After seeing strong reviews of my draft I made the decision to change my paper and revise my paper using these reviews as my guide.
These course learning outcomes I was able to practice gave me a foundation to build on skills that are very important to essay writing.
Sincerely,
Brandon Valentin
